Kyung Mi’s POV
I was eager to go to the big old coop and hopefully there are chickens in there. Seriously, I love chicken! I’ve a pet chicken when I was 8 years old and its name is June. She’s a Chantecler breed, a rare breed of course. I took good care of it and I won’t let anybody hurt it, but unfortunately June died because of bird’s flu. Because of it, my mom won’t let me have another chicken as pet; scared that we might infected by the virus.
I walked into the coop carefully so that I won’t step anything sharp on the floor. The coop was even scarier in the inside than it’s outside and what’s worst was there are no chickens! I sigh in disappointed and ready to get back in the mansion.
As I was turning around to exit the building, suddenly I heard a loud thud from behind. I startled and turn back to where the sound came from. There was a sack full with grains fell onto the floor and luckily the sack was not torn. My heart was beating fast as I was really surprised to hear that sound. I walked towards the sack to pick it up and put it where it came from. As I was picking up the sack, I heard a loud flapping sound from above. At first I thought that it was only a pigeon that was flying by the coop, but then I heard a cluck sound above me. I was very delighted when I looked above and saw a very big, white rooster on the roof plank! Omo! It’s a white Leghorn chicken! I wonder where he came from since the coop was already abandoned.
“Here chicky! Here chicky chicky!” I called the chicken to come down from the roof plank. The chicken just stood there and looked into my eyes. I felt a bit strange that it just looked into my eyes without moving an inch. Suddenly the chicken spread its wings and flaps it hard. It then clucked and crowing out loud. I felt a bit scared because the chicken was still looking at me.
My hair bristle all of a sudden and that makes me more frightened to be in the coop. I turned to the exit and ready to walked back home, but the chicken got off from the plank and land right in front of me. I freeze at where I was, and gulped. I tried to get away from it but it was no use. The chicken steps to the front slowly; every time I step back. I had no choice but to stay in my position.
When the chicken reached at the front of my feet, again, my hair bristle and I felt a bit chill as it was like there’s a ghost right behind me. I turned to my back to look if there’s someone at my back, but nobody’s there. The chicken gave another loud crow and I looked back at it.
Its head tilt to right and back to the left slowly. This time, it didn’t look at me but looked at my back. Now I’m scared and curious about it! I slowly walked to the side; trying to escape from the chicken. The chicken was still at its position and I managed to get out from the coop before it realised I’ve escaped.
I let out a relief sigh and wipe my sweat at my forehead with my hand. I looked at my watch and...Omo! I’m late for dinner! Without wasting time, I ran back to the mansion. Hopefully they won’t get mad at me.
Hangeng’s POV:
Where on earth has she been? It’s almost dinner time and she’s not home yet. I’m so worried! If she’s not here in 10 minutes I’ll...
*Kreeek.Thump!*
Omo, that must be her. It sounds like she was in a rush.
“Welcome home Kyung Mi. Dinner will be served in five minutes” I greeted her.
Kyung Mi was panting and I can see her sweat running down from her forehead. Is she running from something?
“K-K-Kasahamnida Hangeng Oppa.” She said while she was breathing in and out fast. She was leaning on the door and then subsided to the floor. Seriously, what’s happening to her anyway?
“Umm...Kyung Mi? Are you alright?”
“N-N-Nae. Waeyo?”
“Anni. It’s just that you seem like running away from something.”
Kyung Mi eyes widen when I said that. She then tried to talked even she was huffing and puffing.
“Well, first I ran to get here because I was really late for dinner. Secondly, there’s a chicken suddenly try to attack me or something.”
I suddenly felt like there’s a lightning struck on me when she said chicken.
“You mean Ri?” I asked her with my eyebrow lifted.
“The white Leghorn rooster? That’s Ri?” She asked to get my assurance.
“Nae. Waeyo?”
“Nothing. A bit curious about it I guess.”
“ Arasso. Anyway, you should get going to the dining room now. It’s dinner time. We’ll talk about it later.”
“Nae Oppa. Kamsahamnida.”
I watched her going to the dining room until she entered the dining room. I wonder what she was doing in the coop anyway.
No One’s POV:
Kyung Mi entered the dining room and Sunny was there; waiting for her. She was standing beside a chair at the end of the table. She smiled at Kyung Mi sweetly at her and Kyung Mi smiled back. ‘Good thing that I manage to get in here in time. It’s really bad if I didn’t. I have to make a good impression as a new master here.’ She thought.
“Kyung Mi-ssi, you’re just in time.” Sunny said while she pulled the chair for Kyung Mi.
Kyung Mi just nod and she sit at the chair slowly so that Sunny can push the chair to sit.
“Kamsahamnida unnie.”
Sunny then took a white cloth on the table and flip it. She then puts it on Kyung Mi’s laps.
“Kamsahamnida.” She said again.
“Cheonmayo Kyung Mi-ssi.” Sunny replied.
The table was set but the foods were not there yet. Kyung Mi waited for the foods when suddenly she saw Daesung was holding a round silver plate with cover on it went into the dining room while spinning and humming a song. He then stopped at the middle of the table and made ‘walla’ sign at Kyung Mi. Kyung Mi giggled at him and clap her hand. Daesung bows and walked towards her.
“Dinner, is served.” He said while he puts it on the table. He then opens the cover and there’s a very delicious t-bone steak with black pepper sauce.
“Bon appetite.” He said again.
Kyung Mi almost drooled seeing the delicious T-bone steak. She set her prayers and ate the T-bone steak.
‘Omo! It’s delicious!’ she thought.
When she had done eating the T-bone steak, Daesung brought another dish; chicken salad! Kyung Mi was very delighted and she ate the chicken salad happily. Well, she really loves chicken though. Before Daesung brought the dessert to her, Hangeng came into the dining room and walked towards her.
“How’s the dinner Kyung Mi?” he asked.
“U-Umph it’s delicious!” Kyung Mi replied while she chewed her food. She then swallowed it slowly so that she won’t choke it. She wiped her mouth with a cloth and she faced herself towards Hangeng.
“So Kyung Mi, what brings you to the coop just this evening?” Hangeng asked her.
“Ummm....well, actually I thought that there’s chicken in there. So I went there to check it out but unfortunately there’s no chicken.”
“Ah, I see.”
“But in the end, I found Ri. It seems like wants to attack me or something.”
Hangeng let out a chuckle and he covered his mouth when he realised it.
“Who, Ri? Why did you say that? He never attacks people.” He said in disbelief.
“Yes he did. He suddenly stares at me and crowing and flew down from the plank and land right in front of me.”
“I guess he wants to get to know you.” Again, Hangeng let out another chuckle.
“Yah Oppa, I’m serious.” Kyung Mi said while she folds her arm and pouts.
“Fine then.” Hangeng said while he walked to Kyung Mi’s right side.
“Anyway, why’s there only Ri in that big old coop?” asked Kyung Mi while she turned herself to her right side.
“Umm...you see Kyung Mi. That big old coop actually was full with chickens. But it all died one by one until what were lefts was Ri itself.”
“Die? All of them? Why?” Kyung Mi asked as she was a little shocked when Hangeng told her that.
“I-I don’t know. Maybe they missed their owner so much I guess.” Hangeng replied hesitantly.
“Mwo? Why? Where is their owner had been?”
“Nobody knows. He’s been missing for about 3 years and never come back.” Hangeng replied with his voice a bit sank.
“Oh, arasso.”
Not long after that, Daesung came and brought a small tray with a bowl of chocolate ice cream with chocolate syrup topping and sprinkles on it. He held the tray with his one hand and walked towards Kyung Mi when Hangeng pulled him slowly to the side.
“We need to talk.” Hangeng whispered to Daesung.
Daesung just nodded; understands what had Hangeng told him. Hangeng then walked out from the dining room and Daesung walked back towards Kyung Mi and gave the bowl of ice cream.
“Here’s your dessert Kyung Mi. Enjoy.” Daesung said while smiling ear to ear.
“Nae. Kamsahamnida Oppa.”
“So, how are the dishes anyway? Were it good?”
“Uhuh... They’re delicious! You’re a great cook Daesung Oppa! I really love it.”
“Kamsahamnida for liking it. I really appreciate it.” Daesung face turned crimson red when Kyung Mi praised him. He never gets a praised like that from a girl anyway.
Daesung was busy talking to Kyung Mi when he saw Hangeng was waving at him to distract him. When Daesung saw him, he made a sign to tell him to go out for a while.
“Umm... Kyung Mi. I think I should go now. Hangeng’s calling.” He said while pointing at Hangeng.
Kyung Mi looked at the door and looked back at Daesung. She then nodded and Daesung bowed at her.
Daesung left Kyung Mi alone at the dining room and went out to the hall; where Hangeng was waiting for him.
Daesung’s POV:
Hangeng hyung wants to talk with me and he seems very serious about it. I wonder what he is going to say. He was waiting for me near the stairs while leaning at the side of it. He then walks towards me when he saw me before I get near the stairs.
“Hyung, what is it?” I asked when he was right in front of me.
“Did Kyung Mi ask anything about our master?” he asked me with his voice in a slow tone and in a serious way.
“Anniyo. Waeyo?”
“Listen Daesung, don’t ever, ever tell her about master Lee Jinki. She mustn’t know about it. About who’s the owner who lived here before her, why he’s missing and most important is she mustn’t know that he’s been killed. Arachi?”
